A Smart Investment

Ok this message is going to all of you who don't see the value or need to invest in yourself. This runs true ESPECIALLY FOR MOMMIES!!

It's too often for my liking that I hear people telling me they can't exercise because they are too busy with their kids, or with work, or both! Or they say they can't spend money on their health / fitness.

A couple of years ago I was at a low point in my physical and emotional health.  I was willing to try anything to help me lose weight and feel confident again.  I remember holding out on Shakeology for sooo long because I did not think we could afford it. But you know what we could not afford, me being crazy! What good was I doing for my family being unhealthy, anxious, stressed out, tired, and self-conscious? 
I was also SURE I didn't have the time to exercise anymore so I held off on 21 Day Fix as well.   I didn't want to waste money on another workout video that I'd never use.  The truth was that the money was there and the time was there, but I wasn't using those resources wisely. Once I started realizing that I needed to change things not only for myself, but for my family, I had to prioritize how I was spending my time and money.

It actually made no impact to our budget or our lifestyle. And in fact it gave me more energy so I was able to be more productive during my day and it motivated me to help others (because I think everyone should deserve to feel this frickin good!!),  so the business started bringing in extra income to our family!

That's right I went from having no time and money to do this, to having more time and money! This happened because I finally started to realize that I mattered, and that I would be no lesser of a mom for doing something FOR ME.

MOMS - PLEASE don't ever forget that we deserve to invest time and money in ourselves. It doesn't have to be a lot of time or money, but dammit we deserve it! Stop making yourself feel guilty for wanting to do something for you. 

When it comes to your health then it's ok to be selfish and put yourself first. You deserve to feel your best. You deserve to feel confident, sexy, healthy, happy and ALIVE!

Healthy Toffee Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Mug Cake


OK, so I gotta be honest and admit that I have a major sweet tooth.  It's probably more of a sugar addiction but I don't want to call it that cause it would mean I should probably address the issue and I'm not ready to go there LOL

So anyway, one night I was craving chocolate chip cookies BADLY.  I was searching through Pinterest for healthy chocolate chip recipes but I knew it was probably a bad idea because (of the whole sugar addiction thing) I knew I would end up eating the whole batch.  And even "healthy" cookies have to be limited in portions.  

So I then decided to try out a mug cake recipe because these bad boys are single serving recipes and that is what this girl needs (cause I have no self control)!  I found this great recipe by Leelalicious but as usual, I had to put my own spin on it.  I rarely make a recipe as-is, I always like to get creative and play around with recipes to make them more my own.  

Here is the final recipe and it was AMAZING!  Like it was so good you would never know this is a healthy, gluten-free and low carb dessert! 

Healthy Toffee Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Mug Cake


INGREDIENTS
  • 2 TBL coconut flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 2 TBL Nuts N More Toffee Crunch protein peanut butter
  • 1-½ TBL melted coconut oil
  • 1-½ TBL maple syrup
  • 1 TBL unsweetened coconut milk (or almond milk)
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 TBL Enjoy Life mini chocolate chips
Plus:  1 TBL chocolate Shakeology or unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 TBL unsweetened coconut milk and 1 tsp coconut oil for frosting

DIRECTIONS
  1. In a small bowl whisk together coconut flour, and baking powder.
  2. Add egg, Nuts n More toffee peanut butter, coconut oil, maple syrup, coconut milk and vanilla and mix thoroughly to combine.
  3. Fill into a large mug and microwave on high for 2 mins. 
  4. Let the mug cool off for a few minutes.  As it is cooling, mix the ingredients for the frsting in a small bowl.  
  5. Dump the mug cake out on a plate and drizzle the chocolate frosting over it before devouring it, I mean eating it.  

Which Painful Do You Choose?

This ‪blog post is to remind you that sometimes being stuck where you are is more scary and painful than trying to change your situation.

A few years back when I was dealing with being unhealthy (physically and mentally), unhappy and overwhelmed I KNEW I needed to make a change. 

When I first began my journey with Beachbody it was to lose the baby weight. My health journey began with 21 Day Fix and Shakeokogy, and was successful with the support of my coach and the ladies in our challenge group. The weight melted off and with it went my anxiety and insomnia. I felt energized, healthy, and happy again and it felt AMAZING!

When I decided to become a coach I really felt scared and unsure of my abilities. I held back A LOT in the beginning and was afraid to invite people to join me. When I finally started getting the courage to invite others to my challenge groups it was the most exciting feeling to see that they wanted to be a part of this with me. And it has been incredibly rewarding to see all of their amazing transformations over the years!

I have grown so many wonderful relationships with the women who have joined as coaches and/ or challengers. I have found a sense of purpose and discovered so many new things within myself that I enjoy doing and am good at (leadership, creativity, etc). I look forward to this work each and every day because it brings me joy in so many ways!

Before I started my coaching business I feel like I was existing, but I was operating like a machine not a person. Wake up, rush to work, get home, make dinner, clean, put baby to bed and pass out on the couch. There was no enjoyment in my day because I was constantly GO GO GO and worrying about all the things I had to do.

Now I always get my me-time in with my workouts in the morning to make sure I STAY HEALTHY. My anxiety has diminished and I have learned to focus on what's important, so I feel much more present and less stressed when I am with my family. When my business started to take off I even hired a housekeeper so I don't have to worry about cleaning the house and laundry.

These little changes have made a tremendous change in my life and has made me a much happier mom and wife!

Because of Beachbody I am no longer stuck in a body I hate. I am no longer stuck in a mental rut and feeling of disappointment in myself.

It has not been easy, but it sure beats being stuck. I never realized how trapped I felt at the time!
Moral of the story - if you don't like something about the way you feel, live , think ... CHANGE IT! 

The challenge of the change will never be as hard to live with as staying unhappy would.
